Abstract:
A simplified ORC cycle is proposed for small temperature differences. The most important simplification is the replacement of the pump section by a a hydraulic column. The weight difference between the downward moving liquid column and the upward moving gas column provides the driving pressure for the cycle.
Especially for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion applications, it is expected to be an advantage that less mechanical components are necessary for the cycle.
